Craftacular!

Let's recap. This week, here at Moop headquarters we:
:: finished a grueling (but many lessons learned) wholesale order. *note to self: charge extra for labels*
:: Etsy (such fine folks) featured us for three and a half glorious days. And, as it so happens, people like Moop, they really do! That made us real happy.
:: You all found Supermarket (oh, we love you Supermarket!)
:: Bust called, and asked us to come to the Craftacular on the 8th...and, being the crazy go nuts people that we are...I said yes, of course we'll come! So, come and meet us. We can't wait to meet you!
:: I purchased a shirt from the fabulous etsy seller Treehouse28. She makes custom fit clothing. I'm rather excited.

Now, I must leave you all to sew and sew. There's plenty to do.

Moop (in a cross between orange, red and cranberry)

I'm just so thrilled (and slightly shell shocked) at how well you all have received Moop. So thrilled in fact, that when completely ready to collapse (literally) I took a sip of my Yerba Mate (dropped off by my concerned friend Josh), a wild surge of energy came over me (the claims are true, it's the drink of Gods (or very industrious people)) and I made up a new bag.
That's right. After finishing an order for 55 bags and facing mounds of waiting orders (that will soon be on their way out of here like marching ants...marching in droves to their new homes), I went and sewed up a new bag. We all like it here. Jeremy, Wendy (that's me), Parker, Megan (our friend)...all of us like it. And, we think you will too. I'll be posting it tomorrow, after I photograph it. It's not as red as it looks in this photo (the tungsten...oh, the tungsten!). It's more of an orange red with hints of brown (I know, sounds like I'm describing a wine). But, like wine, I think this material will age well. It's a fine wale corduroy with the right amount of stiffness and lined in a new material I found. Cordura ripstop, that feels and acts like a cotton/poly blend (only much prettier than most cotton/poly blends). It's a lighter shade than the outside, but still in the same hue family. I love tone on tone. And, it's completely washable (pretty much all the bags are).
Now, onto some pressing questions. Many of you have asked...How am I going to fill all these orders? Well, you know that guy that's in all the new photos for the Duffel and the Messenger?, well, he's my husband. And, we've been talkin' 'bout all this, and we're going to have to become a collective. So, Moop is now two people. One me, and one him. And, I couldn't be more pleased. He's great to work with.
Being a collective feels good.

love

Well....I love Etsy. And, even more after seeing this video they did....and after they decided to feature Moop this week.

I also love pad see ew from Thai Garden (the best in Northampton, MA). And, now that I've finished my dinner, I'm off to check Parker's (the kid) homework and get right back to sewing. I'll have some photos tomorrow of what I've been working on (a large wholesale order, the largest I've ever accepted...the one that's kept me from sleep for the last two weeks....).

p.s. I've been listening to the Palace Brothers while working late at night...that's some really good music.

Featured Seller on Etsy!

We'd like to thank everyone at Etsy for taking an interest in Moop. We love what we do here, and it makes is feel good when others notice. Take a look, Etsy has featured us today!

And for the occasion, we made The Messenger in Sage....yes, Sage! Our favorite color.

Happy Thanksgiving

Or, Happy Thanksgining.
I had all plans of working for a few hours this morning before starting to prepare for our dinner with friends, when my awesome daughter did this for me. Needless to say, I scrapped the plans for working and decided to hang with the fam.
I'm lucky to have such a great partner and kid. Have fun today!

The two tone sage Market Bag is back!

That's right, it's back! And we're stinking thrilled. I'm still running about two weeks - give or take - for deliveries, but so long as you're patient, you can order one. You can go here or here to buy one.

Snow Day!

Moop loves New England and so do Johnathan Richman and the Modern Lovers

Supermarket and Musical Robots

So, this post is a few days late...but, if you have not already heard Supermarket has launched! It's a great collection of goods. And, the good folks over there asked Moop to join in the goodness, which makes us feel real good. So, go look. Go on...go.

Chicago was great, too. I met the amazing minds who run Deadtech (Rob, Taylor and Alexander). Jeremy's performance was a great success. I've included a video someone shot of the performance. It was pretty dark in the space so it's hard to see the robotics, but it's a great video clip.

Chicago

Somehow, with all of the sewing I've been doing (I'm almost completely caught up on orders)(woot woot), I've been able to reserve a day and a half for a quick trip to Chicago. Jeremy has an opening at Deadtech. It's going to be a good show. He's built a self playing guitar and drum set (a robot band). And, I believe there's going to be a performance with an ex band mate (from Joan of Arc days).

The whole thing is really amazing. If you happen upon Chicago this weekend, you should take the time to see it...really, you should.

On another note, for all of you who visited the etsy shop in the last few days and asked the question, "Did you get robbed?!" (someone did ask, really.) Don't worry, I was not robbed. I've been working on a rather large order as well as trying to catch up on the already placed orders. For one person to sew as much as I need to over the next few weeks, I had to build in a buffer, so everything came down, for only 2 days. The timing actually worked out quite well. I've been working on some new color combinations and re-photographing everything. And, there's new materials, too! So, over the next few days, you'll see everything return to the etsy shop...some even went up tonight!

Handmade Baby

I Took The Handmade Pledge! BuyHandmade.org

The folks over at drool.icio.us found our Market Bag in sage, and we love that they've picked up on its "diaper bag without making you look like you've lost all hip-ness 'cause you've entered the world of kid" design. When my daughter was younger, it seemed every diaper bag was either covered in embroidered disney characters or made from pastel pinks, blues and yellows. I refused to let having a kid turn me into a bland, generic label of motherhood carrying a pastel pink bag with winnie the pooh on it. From this protest, came some of my best experiences with sewing. It's really how I learned to sew. And, I guess it's continued in full force since then.

Oh, and your kid can be hip too. There's this woman who makes shirts for kids and babies. She's got some great designs. I particularly like the elephant with roller-skates...who could resist an elephant in roller-skates? Go take a look, her shop is called Birdlette

So, as I end tonight's post and head off to finish math homework with the super hip nine year old kid, I urge you to not be generic! There's a lot of people making things by hand and making them well. Support them!

Animal Collective

The last several days have been non-stop sewing. The kind of days where you wake, sew, eat lunch, sew, collapse at 3am. Repeat.

Days like this are filled with a lot of music. Which is the reason for this post.

Animal Collective.

I feel like if you've heard them, then I needn't say more. However, if you have not...pleeeease go listen. I promise you'll feel like you've found something special or perhaps, strange...it really depends on who you are. I'm going to be listening to them for a long time. Or, I'll be listening so much for the next 2 weeks, I'll not be able to for a long time. Regardless, they're getting a lot of air play here at the Moop studio.
Off to sew some more.

The New Duffel

Okay, so there's some big news here at Moop. I left my full time day job to work full time on Moop. I can't even express how excited I am. Already it's paid off. Since Monday (when I left the job) I've been sewing like crazy to catch up on orders and make some new designs. You saw the Messenger yesterday. I'm so in love with the Messenger. I'm making some in a few other colors, they'll be available by mid next week.

I also re-made the Duffel. It's a much better design now. I've added some outside pockets and a large slip pocket on the back. I've also invested in a snap attaching device. So all of my snaps are much more durable and heavy duty. Take a look, I just posted one on etsy.

Next project....re-do the website (I need a good web designer...know anyone?)
