The Little Letter Bag

My assistant Emily called in sick this morning. Jeremy had class today (he's gone back to teaching) so I was the only one in the studio. It's a rare occasion this happens any more and today I took full advantage. I've been tossing around an idea for a small cute shoulder bag. I've had many requests for one but, like The Backpack, it has taken me quite some time to work out the design. I came up with this today and I'm super thrilled about it. I won't have it in the shop for a week or so because I would like to make an entire set first (we've moved away from the made-upon-order model of production and my life has become so much happier). I made the first one in provincial blue corded canvas because I had some scraps around...but it will definitely be one of the colors because i-love-it-and-it's-perfect-for-this-bag.

I'll only be offering this design in two colorways...but would love your input...what other color would you like to see this in?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

  1. I love my tan messenger bag- I think it's such a nice, neutral color. Although the lining of a bag is sometimes of more interest to me than the outside- which is why I like MOOP- every bag I have from y'all has a bright and colorful lining which makes it easy to find things and generally makes the bag look cooler (the colorful lining peaking out at the edges). So I guess I'm also interested in how you'll be lining them! ~a multi-Moop bag user

  5. It's great to hear about your design process. What about turquoise (exterior) and red (lining) or brown (exterior) and yellow (lining) for the small letter bag? Looking forward to seeing the results

  7. Oooh love this! I agree with another neutral color but a great pop of color with the lining.

  9. now officially stalking you! I am a failure when it comes to bags, because I own so few, and the ones I do own I complain about - all my stuff collects in a bundle at the bottom. And this looks like a perfect little bag for all the junk I carry - phone, makeup, measuring tape and camera - would that all fit?

  10. How about the brown corded canvas with the organic yellow (like the clutch)....still neutral, but not as dark as the brushed brown, and with the pop of color.

  11. I was just going to say what Alexis suggestions---the brown corded canvas with the organic yellow lining. I love that combination for my small clutch and have thought it would be super in a bigger (but not too big---I love this little Letter already!) bag.

Also second tan with the red lining for the reasons noted by Anonymous. The little spark of red brightens things up, just enough.

Also, I just got my brushed brown backpack today and it's all packed and ready for tomorrow. Thanks for making so many useful, just well, well-made, and beautiful bags; they make slogging through a long day much better.

Ok, I think I've gone on and on too much now about all the good of Moop.....

  13. I think Grey is hands down the 'signature' Moop color. I would love to see Grey w/ teal cordura lining.

I love the teal lining and would like to see more! hint, hint, hint. ;-)

  14. Oh, I love this! I have been wanting to buy a Moop bag for so long, but the size/style combos were never quite right for me. This looks like it might be the One!

As for colors, I'd like a grey or brown. But I do love the blue.

  15. Love it x infinity! Cannot wait to purchase one. I agree with others. The brown/yellow, grey/teal, and sand/turquoise or yellow would be fab.

  16. Oh wow Wendy, this bag is so great! This just jumped to the top of my next Moop bag list.

As far as colors go, I second what everyone else has said. I'd love a black outer/teal inner, or really any nice pop of color inside the black bag.
